WELCOME BACK!!

Welcome back to all. I hope the new year has begun well and finds you relaxed and recharged. This will be my seventh and last year as your CVEA president and it looks like it will be a busy one. The fall will be very busy with the Simple Majority campaign and we will be encouraging all of you to play a roll in this important ballot measure. In addition, our contract expires at the end of this school year so we will be picking a new bargaining team to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement this spring.

As we begin the year, remember that the CVEA is here to serve you. We represent approximately 800 teachers, counselors, librarians and educational specialists employed in the Central Valley School District. We protect your rights under the contract and advocate in your behalf. Please get involved and feel free to contact any member of your Executive Board or call the CVEA office if you need help or have questions.

I will be visiting all buildings this fall either at lunch or before school begins. This is a good time to meet members and answer questions but also to discuss the upcoming bargaining process. I look forward to seeing everyone and discussing issues that are important to you. kr

MEET YOUR BUILDING REP

The Representative Council of the Central Valley Education Association
is made up of the CVEA Executive Board and building reps from all buildings in the district. Each building is allowed a representative for every ten certificated employees. This organization meets once a month, usually the third Tuesday. The Rep Council is the heart of the organization. They approve the annual budget, select members of the bargaining team and must ratify any changes in the organization’s Standing Rules. More importantly they provide the most direct link between the members in the trenches and the Executive Board. Please get to know your Rep(s) and thank them for all they do. As you can see from the chart below there are positions open in several buildings . Please consider serving. If you are interested please talk to your Building Rep or call the CVEA office.

CHANGE OF NAME OR ADDRESS?

If your name or address changed this summer it is important that you notify the Central Valley Education Association as soon as possible. This will help us keep our membership information up to date and will also insure that you receive your WEA and NEA publications.

You should also be sure to notify the District of these changes as soon as possible. Please call Personnel at 228-5440 and the Association at 926-0201. Thank you.
