A new VEBA I account has been established in your name. The District will contribute $20 per month to the account for 05-06, $25 per month for 06-07 and $30 for 07-08. A VEBA I account can be used to defray out-of-pocket medical expenses or saved for use after retirement. In order to make withdrawals employees will be required to enroll in the program.
A fund of $250 per employee per school year is now available for reimbursement for classroom supplies, college tuition/clock hour fees, professional dues or publications from organizations related to education or the employee’s assignment purchased by the employee. Receipts(dated after September 1, 2005) will be required as proof of purchase. Reimbursements shall be paid out the end of July of each year.
Emergency Leave days have been reduced to three (3) per year.
Personal Leave days have been increased to three (3) per year with some restrictions:
Personal Leave cannot be used during the first and last week of school.
Use of Personal Leave to extend a holiday or break will be limited to the first 8% of staff per building and the employee must provide at least forty-eight hours prior notification. Plan ahead for Personal Leave.
The Employee Assistance Program has been reinstated. Employees may access the program for up to three sessions per year. More information from the District will follow.
Resource room teachers with 22 or more students and Self Contained teachers with 9 or more students will have the option for hourly pay or substitute time not to exceed four days to write IEPs. Teachers may access this through their level coordinator.
The state has allocated $629.07 per full time employee per month for insurance benefits. Last year’s amount was $582.47.
The Representative Council of the Central Valley Education Association
is made up of the CVEA Executive Board and building reps from all buildings in the district. Each building is allowed a representative for every ten certificated employees. This organization meets once a month, usually the third Tuesday. The Rep Council is the heart of the organization. They approve the annual budget, select members of the bargaining team and must ratify any changes in the organization’s Standing Rules. More importantly they provide the most direct link between the members in the trenches and the Executive Board. Please get to know your Rep(s) and thank them for all they do. Three reps retired and as you can see from the chart below there are positions open in several buildings . Please consider serving. If you are interested please talk to your Building Rep or call the CVEA office.
If your name or address changed this summer it is important that you notify the Central Valley Education Association as soon as possible. This will help us keep our membership information up to date and will also insure that you receive your WEA and NEA publications.
You should also be sure to notify the District of these changes as soon as possible. Please call Personnel at 228-5440. Thank you.
I plan to be in the following buildings during lunch to meet members and answer questions. kr
